The Collegiate Ruiz Diaz saddle has been around for a while and they’re popular for making affordable horse saddles.
It’s been 5 years since I owned a Collegiate Undergraduate and I really loved it, and I know these are good quality saddles at cheap price, new or used.
My son’s birthday is around the corner and this is what I plan to present to him, I think He has been riding in his instructor’s saddle for way too long, Haha.
Collegiate Ruiz Diaz saddle Reviews
Around 2000, the Ruiz Diaz and Collegiate were “a good team”.
Collegiate has now changed hands at the moment and is owned by a parent company known as Weatherbeeta also run Bates (or at some point did) and many other big horse-related companies.
I heard that Ruiz Diaz during the acquisitions did not go to the new company but rather became affiliated with Pessoa at a time like that but don’t know more history about the company than that.
When taken good care of, the saddle has been said to last a long time and will continue to do so with that same kind of care.
They are affordable.
The Collegiate Ruiz Diaz saddles are built to last a long time.
They are pretty to look at.
Light in weight.

None recorded so far.
In case the underside of your saddle flaps are not so good,
I recommend you buy replacement billet guards and utilize them to keep the underside in nice shape.
I have heard that riding without those guards could destroy that saddle in no time.
Collegiate Ruiz Diaz Saddles Summary:
At some point, Ruiz Diaz was or is making Ovation saddles, too.
After the EEG bankruptcy passed, a lot of the old Collegiate models continued over as Ovation models.
Saddle fashions have since then changed, so those old styles might have been discontinued since then, in favor of “French” styling with sticky layered leather, etc.

The Ruiz Diaz Collegiate saddles (made by Ruiz Diaz for Miller’s) are the best I have tried so far and I much prefer them over the newer Collegiates models, myself!
